Overview The Public Works Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining and supporting the infrastructure and public facilities within the community. This position involves outdoor work, equipment operation, and general maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and functionality of streets, parking lots, and public spaces. The ideal candidate will have , snowplowing, salting streets, and building or equipment repairs. Flexibility to work during weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts is essential to meet the community's needs. Responsibilities Perform outdoor maintenance tasks including highway upkeep, street repairs, and parking lot maintenance. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for various repair and maintenance activities. Conduct snowplowing and salting of streets and parking lots during winter weather conditions to ensure safety and accessibility. Assist with building maintenance, equipment repairs, and general facility upkeep. Adhere to all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Support public works projects as needed, including roadside cleanup and infrastructure improvements. Work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts to respond promptly to community needs. Skills Outdoor work experience with a focus on highway maintenance or related fields. Knowledge of safety procedures related to outdoor construction and maintenance work. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for repair and maintenance tasks. Experience in snowplowing, salting streets, parking lots, or similar winter weather operations. Ability to perform building and equipment maintenance or repairs as required. Strong attention to safety protocols and detail-oriented approach to tasks. Flexibility to work non-standard hours including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call schedules. Pay:
