Part-Time Streets Maintenance Worker Village of Pleasant Prairie - 3.6 Pleasant Prairie, WI Job Details Part-time $19 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The year-round, part-time position of Streets Maintenance Worker reports directly to the Highway Crew Lead and the Highway Superintendent. The primary responsibility of this position is to effectively and efficiently assist crews in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Village's streets, storm water, and street light infrastructure. Hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 3 days a week. This position is scheduled working 1,560 hours per year with an average of 30 hours per week. Workdays may fluctuate on a rotating 10 hour schedule basis with some weekend, holiday, and overtime work required. Job Duties Utilizes a PC based computer to monitor work orders, record work, and generate various reports. Performs inspection, maintenance, installation, and repair of the Village's streets, storm water, and street light infrastructure. Assist in snowplow, salting and deicing operations. Assist in asphalt patching and paving operations, gravel road shoulders, garbage and leaf collection, clean road sides, fabricate and place signs. Assist with the installation and replacing of culverts: culvert steamer, storm main installation, cleaning and maintenance, clean ditches and dig trenches. Utilizes equipment for highway maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, snow removal equipment, riding mowers, road side mowing tractors, hot tar crack fillers, street crack routers, hot air lance, dual vibrating drum rollers, chain saw, brush chipper, generator, road saw, wood saw, painting equipment, sewer rodding, post hole diggers, auger, etc.) Assist crews with catch basin maintenance. Assist crews in use of overhead cranes and lift hoists during repairs. Able to shovel sand, black dirt, gravel, etc. Assist in operating the power flusher and the vacuum unit in conjunction with the power flusher. Able to excavate safely near gas, electric, phone, and fiber optics utility lines. Able to lift manhole covers and climb down manholes with confined space. Able to work in water and storm mains and their appurtenances. Use small hand tools while standing in water at various depths in the ground. Direct traffic around construction work sites and assist equipment operators in their digging efforts. Perform routine tasks with consistency of effort and are able to organize work effectively. Utilizes safe practices and takes protective measures as required, including wearing all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Follows all Village policies and procedures, and Village codes and ordinances. Performs other duties and special assignments as directed within the scope of the Public Works Department.
