Ben's Asphalt is seeking a Shop Foreman. The Auto Shop Foreperson directs and manages all on-site mechanics, fabricators, as well as car washers, enforcing the company's direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting all deadlines. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources for all auto shop.
• Ensure & maintain compliance of all equipment in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of all employees.
• Always engage in open communication with the Director of Fleet; always report any issues which could affect the project plan.
• Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all auto shop personnel and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.
• Control repair, inventory, and labor costs for all equipment.
• Monitor ordering of needed parts from vendors and follow the protocol with invoicing.
• Coach and mentor Ben's Asphalt, Inc. maintenance employees; assist mechanics with trouble-shooting and problem-solving. Ensure employees are completing paperwork correctly when applicable.
• Assist with truck breakdowns/roadside assistance for company equipment.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding out of service equipment and scheduled maintenance.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with, the principles of the company's Safety and Code of Safe Practices as well as the Fleet Safety Management Guidelines and Policies.
• Monitor and manager employee attendance, ensuring timely arrival and participation of all auto shop personnel.
• Liaise between the company and employees on a variety of employee related matters.
• Comply with relevant legislation regarding employee management, terminations, and resignations.
• Handle and thoroughly investigate all employee concerns.
• Ensure consistent and fair application of the progressive disciplinary policy.
• Other employee supervision duties as required.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees to adopt safety as a culture.
• Conduct daily and weekly safety tailgate meetings.
• Keep auto shop clean, organized, and up to safety standards.
• Work with the Safety Director to investigate damage, and/or incidents, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company's Safety Program.
• Work in a safe responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others.
• Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the company.
• Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Valid Driver License (Class A and/or B license preferable).
• Knowledge of engine systems diagnostics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and other auto related components.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the auto shop field (including diesel).
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and DOT requirements.
