This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a fleet maintenance department, ensuring vehicles, equipment, and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys managing teams, improving maintenance operations, and contributing to organizational success. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily work of maintenance personnel. Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs to maximize fleet availability. Ensure maintenance work meets manufacturer standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor fleet performance and respond to operational priorities. Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to assign work, monitor labor, and maintain accurate records. Oversee parts inventory and assist with purchasing and inventory control. Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance staff while promoting a culture of safety and accountability. Inspect completed repairs for quality and compliance. Coordinate with operations to ensure vehicles are available for scheduled service. Investigate equipment failures, accidents, and workplace incidents, recommending corrective actions. Assist with hiring, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Support emergency response efforts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and severe weather events when necessary. Facility Oversight Oversee maintenance of buildings, grounds, and shop equipment. Coordinate repairs with outside contractors. Maintain facility safety equipment and emergency preparedness. Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. Assist with facility improvement projects and maintenance budgeting. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in diesel, heavy equipment, or automotive maintenance preferred. Five or more years of progressively responsible fleet or heavy equipment maintenance experience. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulics, HVAC, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance. Experience using CMMS software. Ability to interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Valid driver's license required; CDL or ability to obtain one is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Work Environment This role is primarily based in a maintenance facility and requires working around heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and be available for occasional after-hours emergency response. Why Apply?
