Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance Director to lead the facilities maintenance operations at a long-term care facility. In this vital role, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for residents and staff. Your leadership will drive the implementation of maintenance procedures, safety regulations, and project management initiatives that uphold the highest standards of facility management. Responsibilities Lead and manage the facilities maintenance team, ensuring effective supervision and coordination of daily activities. Oversee the repair and maintenance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems (high voltage and low voltage), and other building infrastructure. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to optimize equipment uptime. Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and facility safety protocols through regular inspections, training, and safety audits. Troubleshoot engineering issues using schematics, electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters, and industrial troubleshooting techniques. Manage projects related to facilities upgrades or repairs, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with contractors or vendors. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, safety inspections, and compliance documentation. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting, documentation, and communication purposes. Conduct regular inspections of mechanical systems like HVAC units, electrical panels, plumbing systems, and other critical infrastructure to identify potential issues early. Lead efforts in managing facilities maintenance teams effectively to ensure high performance standards while fostering a safety-conscious work environment. Qualifications Proven management experience overseeing facilities maintenance teams in a healthcare or long-term care setting. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing HVAC systems, electrical systems (including high voltage), plumbing systems, and mechanical equipment. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics reading, industrial maintenance procedures, and engineering troubleshooting techniques. Experience managing projects using project management principles; ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices for facilities management within healthcare environments. Proficiency with CMMS software for tracking maintenance activities; skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite for reporting purposes. Demonstrated leadership skills with supervising experience in managing diverse teams; excellent communication skills in English. Ability to operate electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters; experience working with high voltage and low voltage electrical systems essential. Mechanical aptitude combined with strong organizational skills to oversee complex maintenance operations efficiently.
