Position Summary:

The Vehicle Maintenance Lead Technician and Manager oversees the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all resort vehicles including golf carts, shuttle buses, maintenance trucks, and specialty equipment. This leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities, managing a team of technicians to ensure vehicle reliability, safety compliance, and cost-effective operations. The position also collaborates closely with Transportation and Engineering departments to optimize fleet performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical & Maintenance Duties:

Perform and oversee preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles including gas, electric, and hybrid-powered units.

Inspect vehicles regularly to identify safety issues or mechanical failures, and ensure timely repairs.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts inventories.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for parts procurement and specialized repairs.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to vehicle safety and emissions.

Leadership & Management Duties:

Lead, schedule, and supervise a team of vehicle maintenance technicians, providing training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Develop and enforce maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maximize fleet uptime.

Collaborate with Transportation and Engineering leadership to plan fleet upgrades, replacements, and budgeting.

Manage work orders, maintenance budgets, and vendor relationships to optimize operational efficiency.

Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the team.

Additional Responsibilities:

Respond promptly to emergency repairs and breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Assist in the implementation of new vehicle technologies or equipment upgrades.

Support compliance audits and safety inspections.

Participate in hiring and disciplinary actions within the vehicle maintenance team as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

Strong knowledge of automotive, electric vehicle, and small engine repair and maintenance.

Experience working with a diverse fleet including golf carts, shuttle buses, trucks, and specialty equipment preferred.

ASE certification or equivalent technical credentials a plus.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficient in maintenance management software and basic computer applications.

Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.

Valid drivers license required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.

Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.

Ability to stand, walk, and operate tools and diagnostic equipment for extended periods.
