Job Description

Marine Service Manager | High-Volume Mercury Service Center Preferred Marine Sales Group — Pompano Beach, FL Full-time | On-site | Monday-Friday | No Weekends $75,000-$90,000 per year + performance-based bonus opportunities Exceptional candidates may be considered above the posted range based on experience. Position Overview Preferred Marine Sales Group is an established Mercury Outboard dealer and marine service center serving South Florida for 30 years. We service and repower center consoles, as well as being a Freeman service center, and maintain a busy, year-round service operation. Our service department is a fast-paced, high-volume shop with five technicians plus dedicated parts and warranty support . We are hiring a Marine Service Manager who can take ownership of the department day to day — scheduling the shop, managing workflow, communicating clearly with customers and the team, and keeping work moving while protecting quality and profitability. This is not a "write tickets and hope" position. This is a leadership role. The right person will take ownership of the service department so the business can continue growing without the owner needing to be tied to every schedule, estimate and customer call. What You'll Do Own Daily Service Operations Manage service intake, estimates, scheduling, dispatch and follow-through from initial customer contact through completed work and invoicing. Manage Technician Workflow Coordinate work between our five technicians, Parts Department and warranty support. Prioritize and dispatch jobs based on technician skill, workload, parts availability and customer commitments. Keep Work Orders Moving Maintain accurate repair orders, track job status, document approvals and next steps, and proactively address work orders that have stalled or begun to age. Communicate With Customers Provide clear, proactive updates regarding repair status, estimates, approvals, timelines and expectations. Handle customer concerns professionally and make sure commitments are followed through. Coordinate Parts & Warranty Work closely with Parts and warranty personnel to keep jobs moving efficiently and ensure proper OEM processes and documentation are followed. Protect Quality & Profitability Help ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time, estimates and approvals are accurate, work is properly documented and completed jobs are closed and invoiced promptly. Lead the Team Set priorities, coach technicians, hold people accountable and solve problems before they become fires. Track Department Performance Monitor service-department performance including workflow, open and aging work orders, technician productivity and labor efficiency, turnaround times, comebacks and customer satisfaction. Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone with proven marine service experience and strong leadership ability. Previous Marine Service Manager experience is preferred, but we are also interested in an experienced Marine Service Advisor, Service Writer, Shop Foreman or Lead Technician who has been involved in running service operations and is ready to take the next step.
The right candidate will have:
Strong marine service industry experience Experience coordinating technicians and managing a busy service schedule Dealership or established marine service-center experience strongly preferred Strong customer communication and service-writing skills Experience with estimates, repair orders, customer approvals and job closeout Mechanical understanding of marine systems and outboard-powered boats Mercury Outboard / Verado experience is a strong plus Experience with OEM warranty processes is a plus Experience using Lightspeed or another dealer management/work-order system is a plus Strong computer and email skills Excellent organization and follow-through Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced, interruption-driven environment A direct, accountable leadership style Valid driver's license You do not need to be the technician turning the wrench, but you need to understand the work well enough to manage it. We want someone who wants to run a department — not simply fill a seat. What Success Looks Like When a customer calls, you know where their boat stands — or can quickly find out. When a technician finishes a job, the next assignment is ready. When a job is waiting on parts or customer authorization, it is documented and being actively followed up on. When a work order begins to age, you identify the problem and get it moving. The service department should be organized and visible enough that ownership can understand what is happening without having to chase down employees for answers. What We Offer $75,000-$90,000 base salary , based on experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Flexibility to consider compensation above the posted range for an exceptional candidate Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) 401(k) matching Paid time off Employee discount Monday-Friday schedule No weekends Established, busy shop with year-round service volume Loyal South Florida customer base Direct access to ownership and the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how the department operates Long-term leadership opportunity for the right person
