Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shop Foreman to lead, mentor, and support our team of technicians in delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet maintenance. This role is responsible for overseeing quality preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing and repairing equipment, and providing hands-on training and technical guidance. The Shop Foreman plays a key role in minimizing vehicle downtime, preventing roadside breakdowns, and improving the overall reliability and performance of the fleet. Responsibilities Lead, manage, train, and assist technicians. Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Diagnose and repair accident damage. Repair, replace and install doors, latches, internal and external, and identification placards. Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance. Contain costs by using warranty information in evaluating service and parts options. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. May be required to cross-train with other maintenance technicians to assist on trailer and/or refrigeration unit service, repair, and maintenance duties as needed. Miscellaneous duties assigned by department supervisor as needed.
