Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Maintenance Lead Precision Instruments is a manufacturer of torque tools and control systems serving automotive, energy, and industrial customers worldwide for over 80 years. As a third-generation family business, we take pride in our quality products and our employees. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Lead for our Des Plaines, IL facility. This position is responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment, building systems, and facilities while helping coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, vendors, and maintenance supplies. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded maintenance professional with strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and general facility maintenance skills . CNC experience is helpful, but this is a broad plant maintenance position. Job Duties & Responsibilities Lead and perform daily maintenance and repairs for manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment problems. Maintain a variety of manufacturing equipment, including presses, welding and polishing equipment, blasting equipment, machine tools, compressors, pumps, and material handling equipment. Perform general building maintenance, including lighting, plumbing, doors, drains, heating, ventilation, air lines, and other facility repairs. Assist with equipment installation, relocation, fabrication, welding, machine guarding, and facility improvement projects. Coordinate outside contractors and service providers for specialized repairs and inspections. Maintain maintenance tools, replacement parts, lubricants, hardware, and MRO supplies. Source maintenance parts and supplies and place purchase orders as needed. Maintain preventive maintenance, equipment, inspection, and purchasing records using company computer systems. Support safety, building, equipment, and environmental inspections. Prioritize maintenance requests based on safety and production needs. Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to prevent future failures. Job Requirements 5+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. Experience with basic industrial electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with plumbing, carpentry, welding/fabrication, and general building maintenance. Computer experience required, including email, maintenance records, equipment manuals, parts research, purchase orders, and basic Microsoft Office programs. Ability to read machine schematics, electrical diagrams, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting manuals. CNC and automated equipment maintenance experience is helpful but not required. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and coordinate outside contractors. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend, lift, and access machinery and facility equipment. Valid driver's license.
