Lead Mechanical Maintenance Job Description Purpose:
The Lead Mechanical Maintenance coordinates and supervises the operation and maintenance of boilers and special systems to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks, the Lead Mechanical Maintenance must work closely with the staff and administration of Derby Public Schools.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Experience in maintenance and repair of boilers, and special systems. 3. Valid Kansas driver's license.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities a. Coordinate the operation and maintenance of boilers and special systems and other maintenance tasks. b. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines. c. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community. d. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. e. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as required. f. Ability to read and interpret building blueprints. g. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations. 2.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. b. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. c. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching. d. Requires climbing and balancing. e. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round. f. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. g. Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes and odors. h. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. i. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
General Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the operation and maintenance of boilers and special systems. 2. Maintain suitable supplies, tools and equipment. 3. Ensure that adequate safety precautions are followed at all times. 4. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques. 5. Assist in snow removal from school district building walkways, entrances and parking areas. 6. Adhere to all district health and safety policies. 7. Other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.
