Monday - Friday About Us Route 133 Auto is a locally owned, high-performing automotive repair facility committed to delivering exceptional service and building long-term customer relationships. As a growing small business, we value leadership, accountability, adaptability, and hands-on involvement in daily operations. Conveniently located near the West Gloucester commuter rail station and Route 128. Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to lead daily operations and drive shop performance. This role requires a strong combination of automotive repair expertise, modern service writing and shop management software proficiency, leadership, and business acumen .The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in diagnostics and repair, up-to-date service writing systems , familiarity with auto parts sourcing , and the ability to manage both technical operations and front-end customer service. This is a key leadership role responsible for both team development and overall shop success. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily shop operations, including scheduling, workflow management, and quality control Perform and assist with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance as needed Write and manage repair orders using modern service writing / shop management software systems Communicate clearly with customers regarding estimates, timelines, and repair recommendations Manage and mentor a small team of technicians, state inspectors, and detail personnel Maintain and manage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure efficient job turnaround Monitor shop productivity and performance metrics; adjust processes for efficiency and profitability Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with safety and environmental standards Handle customer concerns and maintain a high level of satisfaction and retention Lead start-to-finish used vehicle sales , including paperwork, warranties, and financing coordination Implement improvements in systems, processes, and overall shop operations Perform basic accounting functions , including reconciling daily transactions, balancing beginning and end-of-day totals, and ensuring accuracy in invoicing and payments Stay current with new technologies, service procedures, and software platforms used in the automotive industry Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of automotive industry experience , with leadership or management preferred Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills across a wide range of vehicles Proven experience with modern service writing platforms and shop management software (e.g., Mitchell, Shop-Ware, RO Writer, or similar) Working knowledge of automotive parts sourcing, pricing, and vendor management Basic accounting skills , including reconciliation of daily sales, payments, and transactions Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong leadership ability with experience managing and motivating a team Highly organized with strong time management and problem-solving skills Comfortable using computers, tablets, and smartphone-based systems in a fast-paced environment Sales experience (automotive or related) preferred ASE certifications a plus Massachusetts State Inspector License (Passenger and Commercial) a plus Benefits Competitive salary with performance-based bonus opportunities Opportunities for advancement and increased responsibility Ongoing training and certification support Stable, team-oriented work environment in a growing local business How to
