Job Description

Head of Maintenance / Lead Equipment Technician Our client is an established commercial services company with operations throughout the East Coast. Based at the company's Hudson, MA headquarters, this position will replace a long-term Head of Maintenance and take ownership of the equipment shop and maintenance function. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working on equipment but can also keep a busy maintenance shop organized and running efficiently. The Head of Maintenance will oversee a Maintenance Technician while remaining directly involved in troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Responsibilities Take ownership of the day-to-day operation and organization of the maintenance shop. Lead and oversee a Maintenance Technician while remaining hands-on with equipment repairs. Maintain and repair commercial floor care equipment, including scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, extractors, vacuums, and related machinery. Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment issues and complete repairs as needed. Perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment reliable and ready for use. Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, gearboxes, electrical components, batteries, wiring, switches, hoses, wheels, and other mechanical components. Prioritize equipment repairs based on operational needs and minimize equipment downtime. Maintain an organized shop, including tools, parts, supplies, and equipment awaiting repair. Track maintenance needs, repairs, and replacement parts. Coordinate with operations to ensure equipment is serviced and available when needed. Help establish consistent maintenance schedules and shop procedures. Ideal Background Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience. Experience repairing commercial cleaning equipment, industrial machinery, material handling equipment, forklifts, or similar electro-mechanical equipment. Comfortable working with motors, pumps, gearboxes, batteries, wiring, and mechanical systems. Able to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools such as a multimeter. Previous lead, supervisory, or shop management experience preferred. Organized and capable of balancing hands-on repairs with responsibility for the overall maintenance operation. Commercial floor equipment experience with brands such as Tennant, Nilfisk, Advance, Clarke, Nobles, PowerBoss, Minuteman, or similar equipment is a plus, but strong transferable equipment maintenance experience will be considered.
