Job Summary General Definition of Work Performs work directing and managing the operations of the Department, developing and implementing departmental goals, policy, and budget, directing and inspecting a variety of projects, ensuring projects are in compliance with codes and contracts, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work involves setting policies and goals under the direction of the Public Works Director. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department. • Recruits and selects department personnel; assigns, directs, trains, and inspects the work of staff; rewards, disciplines, coaches, counsels, and evaluates staff performance; develops staff schedules and approves time off; recommends transfers, promotions, and demotions; suspends and terminates staff as necessary; ensures deadlines for the department are met; develops and achieves high performance and strategic objects for the department; supervises daily operations.

• Prepares, administers, and maintains departmental budget.
• Approves weekly invoices, work with accounts payable, purchase requests, and bi-weekly time sheets.
• Manage activities including program analysis, planning, implementation, and coordination responsibilities.
• Maintains current knowledge of codes, rules, regulations, and pending legislation related to department operations.
• Performs supervisory work involving policy and guidelines, solving both people and work-related problems, requires continuous, close attention for accurate results and frequent exposure to unusual pressures.
• Setting internal policies, developing SOP's for the Electric Department.
• Submit weekly activity reports to the Public Works Director.
• Ability to understand and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of substation and operations.
• Directs, manages, and inspects capital, construction, and maintenance projects and field emergencies; directs changes or corrective action; performs the research necessary to guide the projects and ensures compliance with all applicable codes and contracts, including the National Electrical Code and the National Electric Safety code.
• Maintains distribution warehouse stock; writes specifications and acquires bids as needed.
• Investigates customer complaints and inquiries; takes appropriate action and initiates improvements to eliminate continuing problems.
• Attends a variety of meetings as required.
• Ensures that proper safety standards and precautions are followed and oversees the development of effective safety policies and rules and training programs for employees.
• Maintains records and files; prepares a variety of reports and recommendations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or related field and six or more years of experience in project management, engineering, and electrical principles, American Public Power Association (APPA) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) Safety Rules, National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, procurement, and writing specifications for vehicles and equipment with supervisory/management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Qualifications

• A valid CDL driver's license.

Pay:

$47.88 - $76.62 per hour
