Vitus Search Group is assisting a Southaven, MS waste company in need of a second-shift supervisor. The pay is around $90K to $110K. Flexible. Great position for a waste industry technician or mechanic to step up into. Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced 2nd Shift Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team within the waste management industry. This role is vital in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet of heavy-duty trucks, industrial equipment, and support vehicles. As a supervisor, you will oversee daily maintenance operations, coordinate repairs, and implement preventative maintenance programs to keep our fleet running smoothly during the second shift. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, automotive diagnostics, and mechanical systems will drive operational excellence and safety standards across the fleet. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team during the second shift, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols. Oversee vehicle and equipment inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues involving hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and engines. Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for repairs; order replacements as needed to maintain operational readiness. Ensure compliance with industry safety standards such as air brake systems, HVAC systems on vehicles, and heavy equipment operation safety procedures. Conduct quality control checks on repairs performed by technicians; provide guidance on welding, fabrication, tire service, and other specialized tasks. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repair logs, service schedules, and compliance documentation. Foster a positive team environment through training initiatives focused on heavy truck repair, diesel mechanics skills, automotive electrical system repair, and customer service excellence. Experience Proven experience in dealership or industrial equipment repair with a strong background in heavy truck repair and diesel engine diagnostics. Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension components, air brakes, and electrical systems. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators or cranes; familiarity with farm machinery or industrial equipment is a plus. Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex vehicle issues. Demonstrated ability to lead a team of mechanics or service technicians; excellent communication skills are essential. Prior experience with welding, fabrication, tire service, power tools usage, and equipment maintenance is highly desirable. Knowledge of automotive electrical systems repair along with proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment for vehicle systems assessment.
