Job Description

Looking for a dedicated Head School Bus Driver - Maintenance Director at Lone Rock School! Come join our amazing team at our small, rural K-8 school district.
Salary:
(19.29-21.60 per hour DOE) - Up to 5 additional hours per month will be paid for maintenance, including during summer months.

7:00am to 8:45 am and 3:15pm to 4:45pm (approximately).
Job Goal:
To drive school bus over assigned routes in accordance with time schedule, ensure all bus routes are safe and student welfare is held as a high priority, and oversee the maintenance of all school buses in the fleet. Boards and discharges student passengers in a safe and orderly manner. Instructs students and others on proper bus behavior and emergency procedures. Transports students, staff & chaperones on field trips, athletic activities and other special trips. Enforces District policies and procedures related to transportation. Maintains good order among students on buses, following District policies regarding discipline of children and contact with parents and other citizens. Report any problems to school officials via paper trail required by school. Maintains bus cleanliness on a daily basis, including washing, as needed. Renders first aid or emergency assistance as needed. Services buses with gas and oil and checks tires. Inspects bus and fills out inspection sheets. Suggest route or operational changes that may improve safety and service to the public. Manages the schedule for the activity and field trips, while assigning drivers in an equitable manner to those trips. Ensures all buses are safe and operational for all routes, including field trips. Performs minor repairs/maintenance to the buses and/or schedules time at a shop that can service the repairs/maintenance, coordinating through the Superintendent Notifies the Superintendent if a sub driver is needed for any routes Ensures all summer work is performed on all buses and contacts and assists Highway Patrol for semi-annual inspections Organizes bus routes and coordinates the routes with the appropriate personnel Coordinates any purchase of any new buses necessary, obtains bids and presents them to the Superintendent Makes sure all drivers and sub drivers obtain at least 15 hours of yearly professional development Maintains maintenance records on all buses Other duties as assigned. Desired Minimum Qualifications - Possession of valid Montana Commercial Driver's License, accompanied by satisfactory medical examination report and a drug test. Hold valid Basic First Aid/CPR certificate. Hold valid TR-35 form. Hold valid School Bus Endorsement and Air Brake Endorsements on Driver's License. (As per Lone Rock School Policy) Driver must have five (5) years driving experience. Excellent driving record. Ability to pass a criminal history background check. Be able to drive a manual/standard transmission. Must have 15 hours of driver training per year. This can be obtained by attending the Montana Association of Pupil Transportation conference every June. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters. Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with all stakeholders, including students, parents, colleagues, and administration through oral and written communications.
Pay:
$19.29 - $21.60 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 - 20.0 per week
