The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service shop. Primary duties consist of coordinating flow of repair orders with the technicians ensuring repairs are completed safely, timely and according to dealership and manufacturer standards.Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct the work of service technicians, assigning work orders according to each technicians skill level. Provide guidance training and technical support to the team. Perform final quality checks on repairs. Manage shop workflow ensuring timely completion of repairs while maintaining high quality work. Communicate frequently with Service Advisors on status of repairs, potential delays and relay any other information the customer needs to know. May complete work for complex repair orders. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and inventory control within the tool room and designated work areas. Participate in daily morning technician meetings to review priorities, safety concerns, and operational updates. Review and coordinate technician time-off requests to support proper shop coverage and workflow continuity. Ensure open bays are utilized efficiently and remain available for vehicle repairs and productivity needs. Work closely with the parts department to ensure accurate parts identification, ordering, and availability for repairs. Ensure warranty punch times, repair documentation, and technician story lines are accurate, complete, and compliant with manufacturer requirements. Support technicians in maintaining accurate and timely repair order updates through wiADVISOR and other dealership systems.Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of automotive systems. MOPAR experience/knowledge preferred, Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold technicians accountable for performance and quality. Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency, productivity, and workflow. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and distribute work effectively. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, particularly when assisting technicians with complex repairs. Ability to identify workflow bottlenecks and proactively remove obstacles that impact technician productivity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, service advisors, and management. Ability to monitor technician workload and maximize available shop capacity and flagged hours. Demonstrates sound judgment and the ability to make timely operational decisions. Leads by example and promotes teamwork, accountability, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement. Maintains a strong understanding of dealership service processes, safety requirements, and manufacturer repair standards.
