Job Description

Responsibilities Maintains and orders annual inspections as required by governmental regulatory agencies. Manages and controls the use, storage and timely disposal of hazardous materials and wastes. Maintains and tests of fire suppression sprinkler system in accordance with local, State and Federal regulations. Serves as plant liaison with Fire Department and other emergency responders. Assures periodic testing and maintenance of the facility's emergency lighting and related systems; ensures periodic inspection and testing of all fire extinguishers; conducts periodic testing of facility's crane hoists Ensures employees follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP's Monitors manufacturing process to ensure that all processes are operating within defined production and quality standards Makes recommendations and assembles comprehensive solutions to the Plant to improve machine efficiencies and quality improvements Develops and administers departmental 5S program consistent with the plant-wide initiatives Monitors and maintains scheduled productivity and leads team to achieve planned schedule attainment goals Ensures machinery and equipment repairs are performed promptly, correctly, and within established timeframes Coordinates troubleshooting efforts so that machine efficiency can be maximized Exercises continuous improvement processes and techniques in order to enhance the department's performance results Prioritizes and follows-up on all maintenance activities; manages labor costs by maximizing employee productivity Develops, implements, and monitors PM program across all areas of the manufacturing plant Directly supervises a department of Maintenance Technicians, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; conducts operator testing as required Defines, develops and controls all maintenance related procedures, specifications, computer programs, work instructions, and machinery repair/troubleshooting manuals; Prepares and submits Purchase Requests for necessary materials Monitors and analyzes utility usages and develops energy savings programs Oversees the administration of Work Order database and machine histories and logs; maintains current machine manuals and resource materials Develops and maintains departmental budgets; controls departmental operating expenses and plant supply costs Compiles, prepares and submits performance reports as directed Supports the Plant's Food Safety initiatives by completing plant required Food Safety training and by implementing / complying with the required practices Support SQF through compliance with SQF standard practices and policies Assist SQF teams, audits, and documentation as necessary In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, the roles and responsibilities of this position will be fulfilled as designated, documented, and approved by the Plant Manager. Safety Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately. Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP's. Actively participates in the D&W safety improvement process/activities, e.g. Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, etc. More than a job. Grow, belong, and make a difference.
