www.scenic.com Director of Maintenance (DOM) Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Maintenance (DOM) to lead our aircraft maintenance program and ensure the continued safety, reliability, and airworthiness of our fleet of De Havilland Twin Otter Vistaliner and Cessna Caravan aircraft. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an aviation professional with extensive Part 135 maintenance experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and a passion for leading teams and maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence. Position Summary The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines maintenance program, ensuring all company aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition and in full compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and maintenance procedures. The Director of Maintenance (DOM) will provide oversight and leadership for maintenance operations in Boulder City, Nevada, and Grand Canyon, Arizona. The Director of Maintenance (DOM) will oversee maintenance planning, inspections, repairs, personnel development, regulatory compliance, and the continuous improvement of maintenance operations throughout the organization. Essential Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Airworthiness Directives, and company maintenance programs. Maintain thorough knowledge of the Company's Maintenance Manual, Operations Specifications, and applicable maintenance provisions under 14 CFR Part 135. Serve as the Company's principal authority on maintenance-related regulatory matters and FAA compliance. Maintenance Leadership Direct and coordinate all aircraft inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and return-to-service processes. Monitor daily maintenance operations to ensure fleet reliability and operational readiness. Review aircraft discrepancy reports and completed maintenance records. Establish and maintain maintenance procedures and best practices. Operational Management Oversee maintenance activities at all company locations and outstations. Ensure proper tools, equipment, facilities, and calibration standards are maintained. Coordinate maintenance scheduling with operational departments to minimize aircraft downtime. Maintain clean, safe, and efficient maintenance facilities. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors and mechanics. Provide staffing leadership through effective hiring, training, scheduling, and workforce planning. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence. Safety Management Ensure all safety procedures and instructions are followed. Oversee hazardous materials and chemical control programs. Promote and maintain the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. Required Qualifications FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate. Must meet the qualifications outlined in 14 CFR Part 119.69. Thorough knowledge of FAA regulations governing aircraft maintenance and Part 135 operations. Demonstrated leadership experience managing aircraft maintenance teams and programs. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Experience Requirements Candidates must satisfy one of the following: Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the past six (6) years maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic, including experience maintaining the same category and class of aircraft operated by the certificate holder, including De Havilland Twin Otter Vistaliner and/or Cessna Caravan aircraft. OR Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the past six (6) years repairing aircraft in a certificated airframe repair station, including at least one (1) year in a position approving aircraft for return to service. Preferred Qualifications FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) Certificate. Previous Director of Maintenance experience in a Part 135 operation. Experience managing multi-base maintenance operations.
