Shop Foreman North Star Marina Hermitage / Shenango River Lake, Pennsylvania Position Summary The Shop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and efficient operation of the marina's maintenance facilities, garage, and grounds operations. This working supervisory role manages repair orders, directs the grounds crew and mechanics, ensures buildings and equipment are properly maintained, and performs hands-on mechanical work as needed. The position reports to the Owner/Marina Manager and plays a key role in keeping the property, docks, equipment, and customer vessels in safe, reliable condition. Key Responsibilities Oversee the marina garage, shop, and all associated buildings and facilities, ensuring they remain organized, safe, and fully operational. Manage and prioritize all repair orders for marina equipment, customer boats, and property assets; track progress, parts, and completion. Supervise, schedule, and train the grounds crew and mechanics; assign daily work, enforce quality and safety standards, and provide technical guidance. Perform hands-on mechanical repairs and diagnostics on marina equipment, vehicles, small engines, and related systems as needed. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; coordinate ordering and control costs. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards on the property and in the shop. Coordinate with other marina departments on facility needs, seasonal preparations, and special projects. Inspect and maintain grounds, buildings, docks access areas, and equipment storage to a high standard of appearance and function. Document work completed, equipment status, and any issues requiring owner attention. Assist with snow removal, emergency repairs, and seasonal close-up/open-up as required. Qualifications & Requirements Proven experience in a supervisory or lead mechanic role, preferably in a marina, heavy equipment, automotive, or outdoor power equipment environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret repair orders, technical manuals, and parts diagrams. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate a small team. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while keeping the owner informed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with marina or waterfront operations, docks, or marine equipment. Knowledge of heavy equipment (skid steers, rollers, excavators, etc.) common to property and marina maintenance. Welding, fabrication, or advanced diagnostic skills. Familiarity with inventory and work-order systems. Physical & Work Environment This is a hands-on position that requires working in the shop, on the grounds, and around the marina property. Duties involve exposure to weather, noise, grease, and mechanical equipment. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work flexible hours during peak seasons. This is a full-time, year-round position with the expectation of occasional weekend or after-hours work during busy periods or emergencies.

Pay:

$23.00 - $31.56 per hour
