A Maintenance Planner improves workforce productivity and work quality of a maintenance organization by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. Reports to Maintenance Manager and maintains liaison between Operations and Maintenance. Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator, the planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.

Job Description
Who We AreFacilities Operations supports the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the University of Michigan Dearborn's buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and utilities. Our work promotes energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental health and safety, and the well-being of students, faculty, and staff.
We also provide essential campus services, including mail and deliveries, transportation and parking services, and fleet maintenance.
Job SummaryThe intern selected for this position will provide support and assistance to the Facilities Operations team. The position reports to the Director of Planning and Construction andwill work closely with project managers and the Interior Designer. This position offers hands-on experience with campus construction and renovation projects, projectcoordination, and stakeholder communication. This position requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm, with flexibility during final-examperiods.
This is an in-person position based out of the Campus Support Services building on the UM Dearborn campus.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include:
Assist project managers with campus construction and renovation projects.
Visit campus buildings and project sites to take field measurements, conductinventories, take photographs, and document existing conditions.
Help create and update project plans, schedules, and timelines.
Record meeting notes, track action items, and maintain organized project files.
Schedule meetings and communicate with team members, campus partners, andvendors regarding project updates.
Assist with tracking project expenses and budgets.
Prepare presentations, reports, and project documentation for stakeholders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications•Current University of Michigan-Dearborn student in good academic standingAbility to work 10-20 hours per week during regular business hoursProficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and ZoomStrong organizational skills and attention to detailEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructionsReliable transportation to campus Ability to access project jobsites, including using ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
Desired Qualifications•Federal Work-Study eligibility, if applicableInterest in project management, construction, architecture, engineering, interior design, facilities management, or a related fieldExpected enrollment at UM-Dearborn for at least two additional academic termsExperience managing schedules, organizing files, preparing reports, or coordinating group projectsThe name and contact information of a UM-Dearborn faculty or staff member who can serve as a reference.
