The Maintenance Crew Member exists to ensure the safety, functionality, and beauty of the property and facilities at Victory Ranch, while sharing the gospel and your life with the military people and their families who visit Victory Ranch. This requires a self-driven heart for service and a hands-on work ethic as one serves behind the scenes to maintain Victory Ranch.
Location Eastover, South Carolina Time Commitment:
Minimum of 4 years Cadence International is a support-based mission. All appointed missionaries are required to raise their individual support before they are released to the field.
About Victory Ranch:
Victory Ranch is a Christ-centered hospitality ministry serving military members and their families. Located on a peaceful 17-acre property with a 4-acre pond and a ranch house, we offer a place of rest, reconnection, and spiritual renewal away from the chaos of military life. Duties and Responsibilities Property and Grounds Maintenance Landscaping - Mow lawns, trim trees, clear brush, and maintain walking trails Maintain and care for the 4-acre pond area (eco-system), conduct water feature/dock inspections, beach upkeep, and debris removal Inspect and repair fences, gates, and other outdoor structures Adheres to all OSHA and occupational safety procedures while performing facility maintenance, repairs, and installations. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and maintains a safe, clean work area at all times. Facility Repairs and Upkeep Perform routine maintenance on bunkhouses, bathrooms, ministry spaces, and the historic main house Conduct basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting work as needed Support upkeep of HVAC systems, water heaters, and well pumps Project Assistance and Renovations Help with restoration projects (e.g., remodeling bunkhouses, constructing new features) Assists volunteer groups or mission teams with on-site construction and renovation efforts Event and Retreat Preparation Set up and tear down tables, chairs, signage, and temporary structures Ensure grounds are clean, properly maintained, and ready for guests Respond quickly to maintenance needs during events Tool and Equipment Management Maintain and organize tools, machinery, and maintenance supplies Operate mowers, tractors, power tools, and other equipment safely and effectively Create an inviting environment that reflects the kindness and graciousness of our Lord Engage participants with opportunities to be servant-minded and to share their time, treasures, and talents. Recruit and train volunteers Complete required reports and administrative duties according to deadlines Attend and participate in Cadence events (monthly meetings, staff conferences, combined retreats) Travel will be required Build a donor support team, raise all necessary funding for their Cadence position, maintain that financial support level, and maintain communication with that donor support team
Minimum Job Requirements:
Must possess a general knowledge of building maintenance, repair, and landscaping (previous practical experience and/or vocational skills training a plus). Born again, mature Christian with an affinity for the mission and work of Cadence International. Because of the distinctly Christian emphasis of Cadence's mission work, willing to sign and comply with Cadence International's Code of Christian Conduct. Demonstrated spiritual, emotional, marital (if applicable), and financial health. Demonstrated leadership gifting. Willingness to abide by policies in the missionary handbook. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, perform physical labor, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to pitch in wherever needed. Strong problem-solving skills.
Specific Skills:
Knowledge of standard business written communications. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in general computer skills:
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in software applications used by Cadence. Strengths in administration, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Able to handle administrative and financial tasks required by Cadence. Ability to graciously re-prioritize workload as demands change throughout the day. Flexibility to meet the demands of a dynamic work environment. Demonstrated ability to teach and disciple students. Demonstrated ability to share the gospel clearly and effectively. Demonstrated ability to recruit and equip volunteers.
