Role The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for the successful execution, management, and growth of the company's Landscape Maintenance services division. This role oversees Account Managers, Turf Manager, Irrigation Manager and Field Supervisors in order to ensure high-quality service delivery, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency
Responsibilities Management and Oversight Financial Management:
Manage the operational budget for the department including labor, materials, and equipment costs, to maintain profitability for the landscape maintenance division.
Team Leadership:
Supervises and coordinates Account Managers, Field Supervisors, Turf Manager, and Irrigation Supervisor. Works with Account Managers on involvement with customer service, enhancement sales, and property walk completions.
Operational Planning:
Supervise and coordinate Field Supervisors involvement in site visits, employee management, and new hire on-boarding and training. Work closely with the Field Supervisors to pass their knowledge down to the crew leaders.
Training:
Set up and oversee the ongoing training of irrigation programming, horticultural practices, annual flower identification, installation and maintenance, turf types, and turf care weeds, diseases and insects. Train new managers on Envirocare systems, culture and responsibilities in their role. Manage the Greenius training system for managers and field level employees.
Landscape Maintenance Program Quality Control:
Coordinate with the Field Supervisors to ensure crew members maintain the customers' property in the very best possible manner through proper horticultural practices and sustainable environmental efforts. Ensure quality control of landscape maintenance through a variety of methods to include on-site assistance and observation of job-performance. Call or visit customers quarterly to ensure they are satisfied with the service and see if they have any concerns. Join Account Managers as they perform property walks with or without customers. Work with the Turf Manager on identifying areas for soil tests. Ensure the company facilities and grounds are maintained in a professional appearance by working with the Shop Manager. Work with the Irrigation Supervisor and Account Managers to ensure all controllers are set to water properly.
Schedule:
Coordinate with the Field Supervisors to implement maintenance tasks on pruning trees and shrubs, chemical applications, mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing.
Communication:
Maintain professional communication with all managers and staff, ensure proper grammar is used in all communication. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.
Estimating:
Work with the Account Managers to help themquote estimates for enhancements on new and existing properties. Seek out and estimate new properties to quote for annual maintenance.
Employee Management:
Suggest and initiate plans to motivate employees to achieve company goals. Recommend employee actions such as promotions, raises, bonuses, disciplinary and removal actions. Ensure all employees display professional appearance and manner at all times. Ensure all employees receive proper performance reviews.
Irrigation System:
Work closely with the irrigation manager to coordinate run times throughout the season.
Turf Management:
Implement application schedules for turf and ornamental programs.
Equipment Maintenance:
Communicate equipment repairs to the shop. Follow up on repairs. Guide the Field Supervisors on the repairs in the field. Ensure that equipment load lists are up to date.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on landscape maintenance experience. Turf management knowledge to include turf types, common weeds, insects and diseases in Upstate SC. A strong past in supervisory experience and problem solving. A degree in horticulture/turf management is preferred.
Business Acumen:
Proven ability to manage a significant book of business and control costs effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and team management.
Technical Expertise:
Understand Google Drive, Gmail, and landscape industry specific software. Understanding proper safety procedures based on the Greenius training system. Knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, pest and disease ID, and landscape maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions. The use of manual and power operated equipment.
Working Schedule:
Arrive at the shop facility no later than 6:45 am Monday - Friday. Daily schedules must meet a minimum 40 hour work week year-round. Schedules must be flexible to meet customers on their schedule including attending after hour Board/HOA meetings when required and handle employee issues that arise. If you have crews working, you must be available to take calls and respond when needed unless using scheduled PTO.
Paid Time Off:
120 hours annually , including 1-week shut-down at Christmas. Vacation cannot be taken between April and October without written permission. All existing handbook vacation policies will apply. Vacations should be scheduled 2 weeks in advance and must have supervisor approval. Sick and personal days are included in the 15 days of PTO.
Appearance:
Khaki/Gray pants, a jacket or shirt bearing the Envirocare logo, Envirocare safety vest and Steel Toe shoes. Shirts, jackets, safety vests, and hats will be provided to you. No visible body piercings other than earrings. No tattoos should be visible above the collar line. No offensive tattoos should be visible while in uniform. Hats should bear the company logo.
