Position Summary The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant assets within a petcoke processing facility. This role leads maintenance personnel, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, reliability improvement initiatives, and maintenance-related safety performance to maximize equipment availability, process stability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The position will directly supervise two Maintenance Technicians and will be accountable for maintaining plant equipment, reducing unplanned downtime, improving asset reliability, and implementing predictive maintenance technologies. The successful candidate will establish a proactive maintenance culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Initially responsible for one petcoke processing facility, the role is expected to expand to include maintenance and reliability oversight for another additional plant in the future. Essential Responsibilities Maintenance Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two Maintenance Technicians.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Plan, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate daily maintenance activities to support production objectives.
- Manage plant shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance projects.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
- Manage maintenance contractors and external service providers.
- Develop annual maintenance budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventories and vendor relationships to minimize downtime and equipment risk. Preventive Maintenance Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
- Implement CMMS systems to schedule, document, and track maintenance activities.
- Optimize maintenance intervals based on equipment performance and reliability data.
- Monitor PM compliance and drive continuous improvement in maintenance effectiveness.
- Ensure safety-critical equipment receives required inspections, testing, and maintenance. Reliability & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and execute a site reliability strategy focused on maximizing equipment availability and reducing unplanned downtime.
- Implement predictive maintenance technologies and condition-monitoring programs, including: o Vibration analysis o Infrared thermography o Oil analysis o Ultrasound inspections o Motor and electrical condition monitoring
- Analyze equipment performance data and reliability trends.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Develop reliability metrics and maintenance performance dashboards.
- Establish reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices where appropriate.
- Identify and execute reliability improvement projects that support long-term operational excellence. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Drive measurable improvements in: o Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) o Equipment availability o Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) o Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) o Process stability o Maintenance cost efficiency
- Partner closely with Operations to identify and eliminate production losses related to equipment performance.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Standardize maintenance practices, procedures, and reporting across facilities. Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Serve as the maintenance safety leader for all assigned facilities.
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture and ensure all maintenance work is performed safely.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, environmental requirements, and industry standards.
- Lead implementation and enforcement of critical safety programs, including: o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) o Confined Space Entry o Hot Work Permits o Fall Protection o Machine Guarding o Electrical Safety o Contractor Safety Management o Dust Hazard Awareness and Mitigation
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and maintenance risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, equipment failures, and near misses using root cause analysis methodologies.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained.
- Coordinate safety training and certification requirements for maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews for equipment and process modifications.
- Work closely with Operations and EHS personnel to identify and eliminate equipment-related safety risks.
- Champion proactive improvements to equipment safeguards and risk reduction initiatives. Equipment Responsibility Provide maintenance and reliability oversight for equipment including, but not limited to:

- Develop maintenance and reliability systems capable of supporting multiple facilities.
- Establish standardized maintenance procedures, PM programs, and reliability practices across sites.
- Provide maintenance planning, reliability oversight, and technical support for future facilities.
- Coordinate resources and prioritize capital and maintenance projects across locations.
- Develop common maintenance KPIs and reporting standards for all facilities. Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience will be considered. Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing, bulk materials handling, mining, aggregates, cement, carbon products, or similar process industry environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Experience with rotating equipment, crushing, screening, conveying, storage, and material handling systems.
- Proven success implementing reliability improvement initiatives and reducing equipment downtime.
- Multi-site maintenance management experience is preferred. Technical Skills
