Job Description
Major Position Responsibilities Performs research, design, and development of production equipment. Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, modifying, rebuilding, and maintaining plant equipment. Complies and enforces safety procedures/standards. Complies and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Applies food safety engineering concepts when installing new equipment or improving existing one Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary. Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance. Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment. Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (EAM) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment. Schedules, plan and follow-up execution of activities for PM. Analyzes delays during preventive and corrective maintenance activities in order to improve MTTR. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Ensures maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues. Creates and update work schedules for technicians on assigned shift according to Plant requirements. Hires maintenance technicians. Develops and keeps updated maintenance routines, procedures, and schedules. Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians. Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures. Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems. Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc. Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Coordinates and supervise activities with mechanics and technicians. Adequately carries out all activities related to security and quality of the finished product. Must report any food safety and/or food quality problems to department supervisor. Work with suppliers for equipment, spare parts, materials, services, or support in case of machine failure. Education and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or related field) or 3 years in plant maintenance experience as a supervisor.
