The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on knowledge of heavy-duty equipment and proven leadership experience in a fleet maintenance environment. Key Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the truck and trailer maintenance shop. Lead, supervise, and schedule maintenance technicians and shop staff. Plan and monitor preventive maintenance programs to keep equipment road-ready. Diagnose and oversee repairs involving diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, HVAC/APU, and trailer systems . Manage breakdowns and prioritize repairs to minimize truck and trailer downtime. Inspect completed repairs and ensure quality and safety standards are maintained. Monitor shop productivity, repair costs, parts usage, and outside vendor expenses. Approve and monitor work orders, estimates, parts, and repair invoices. Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance Coordinators to ensure equipment is available for dispatch. Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure required inspections and compliance are completed. Identify recurring mechanical issues and implement corrective actions. Manage parts inventory and ensure critical parts are available. Work with vendors, dealerships, and outside repair facilities when required. Train and develop technicians and maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop. Establish maintenance KPIs and report on downtime, repair turnaround time, PM compliance, and maintenance costs . Ensure all shop activities comply with company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance . Previous experience managing a fleet maintenance shop or maintenance team. Strong knowledge of Detroit, Cummins, Volvo, and other heavy-duty diesel engines . Strong knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, and trailer repairs. Excellent leadership, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple repairs and priorities in a fast-paced transportation environment. Experience with TMW or other fleet maintenance management systems is an asset. Class AZ/DZ license or heavy-duty technician experience is an asset.
