Lufkin, TX Salary:
$55,000-$65,000 per year, based on experience Full-Time | Guaranteed Salary | No Commission-Based Pay Plan About the Position Raceway Motors is looking for an experienced, dependable Automotive Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our service department in Lufkin, Texas. We are a family-owned and operated automotive business serving East Texas for over 25 years. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, treats customers and employees with respect, and can provide the leadership and organization necessary to keep a busy automotive shop running efficiently. This is a true management position , not simply a service advisor position with a manager title. Our Service Manager will be responsible for coordinating the daily operation of the service department, leading technicians and service personnel, maintaining an efficient workflow, resolving customer concerns, and helping ensure the shop meets our standards for quality, productivity, profitability, and customer service. We are offering a guaranteed salary rather than a commission-driven pay plan . We want our Service Manager focused on doing what is right for the customer, the employees, and the business. Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Our normal operating schedule for this position is Monday through Friday. As a management position, the Service Manager must also be willing to work occasional Saturdays when necessary to accommodate shop workload, customer needs, or workflow. Saturday work is not intended to be part of the normal weekly schedule. However, we expect our Service Manager to take ownership of the department and be willing to step in when business needs require it. Key Responsibilities The Service Manager will be expected to: Lead and manage the daily operation of the service department Coordinate and prioritize technician workflow Keep technicians productive and minimize unnecessary downtime Monitor vehicles from check-in through completion Review repair orders, estimates, technician recommendations, and work in progress Ensure customers receive clear and timely communication regarding their vehicles Help ensure repair recommendations are presented professionally, accurately, and honestly Handle customer concerns and resolve problems before they escalate Monitor open repair orders and ensure completed vehicles are delivered promptly Maintain communication between technicians, service personnel, parts vendors, and management Monitor labor sales, parts sales, gross profit, productivity, efficiency, and other key shop performance indicators Help reduce comebacks and ensure repairs meet company quality standards Coach, develop, and hold employees accountable Assist ownership with hiring, training, and evaluating service department employees Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and productive work environment Conduct or participate in daily service/production meetings Identify problems in the service operation and take ownership of finding solutions Provide ownership with regular updates regarding shop performance, personnel, customer concerns, and operational needs What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will have: Previous automotive service management experience Strong automotive service advisor experience may be considered for the right candidate A solid understanding of automotive repair shop operations Experience working with automotive technicians and managing workflow Ability to read and understand repair orders, estimates, labor times, parts costs, and repair recommendations Strong leadership and people-management skills Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong organizational and time-management abilities Ability to handle multiple priorities in a busy shop environment Understanding of shop productivity, efficiency, gross profit, and basic automotive service KPIs Comfortable using automotive shop management and computer systems Valid driver's license Professional, dependable, and accountable attitude Independent automotive repair shop experience is strongly preferred. The Person We Want We are not looking for someone who simply wants the title of Service Manager. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the service department . The right person should be able to walk into the shop each morning, understand what needs to happen, organize the day's workload, communicate with the team, solve problems as they arise, and keep vehicles moving through the shop without requiring constant direction from ownership. You should be comfortable leading people and holding employees accountable while still creating a positive working environment. Most importantly, you should understand that long-term customer relationships are more valuable than making a short-term sale. Compensation & Benefits $55,000-$65,000 annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a guaranteed salary position with no commission-based pay plan . We believe the person responsible for managing our customers, technicians, workflow, and service operation should be able to focus on running the department properly without worrying about a constantly changing commission check. Benefits & Perks Paid vacation after one year of employment Paid company holidays Employee discounts on automotive services provided by Raceway Motors Monday-Friday regular work schedule Stable, guaranteed salary with no commission-based pay plan Long-term opportunity with an established, family-owned East Texas business Compensation will be reviewed based on performance, responsibilities, and continued development within the company. What Success Looks Like A successful Service Manager at Raceway Motors will: Keep the shop organized and productive Maintain consistent technician workflow Communicate well with both customers and employees Reduce delays and unnecessary technician downtime Maintain strong customer satisfaction Keep comeback and rework levels low Protect appropriate labor and parts margins Maintain accountability within the service department Address problems instead of allowing them to accumulate Develop a strong, professional service team Allow ownership to focus on running and growing the business rather than managing every repair order Why Raceway Motors? Raceway Motors is a family-owned and operated East Texas automotive business with more than 25 years of history in our community . We believe in treating customers fairly, doing quality work, and building long-term relationships with both our customers and employees. For the right person, this is an opportunity to take an important leadership role in an established local automotive business and make a meaningful impact on the operation.
