W-2, Hourly, Non-Exempt About the Position Valiant Grounds & Facility Services is looking for a dependable, experienced working Crew Lead to help lead our growing field operation in Rosenberg, Texas and surrounding communities. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Crew Lead will work alongside the crew while also taking responsibility for organizing assignments, directing crew members, operating equipment, monitoring safety and quality, documenting completed work, and making sure each property or jobsite is completed correctly and on time. Valiant is a growing small business, and management is focused on expanding the company, building the operation, and bringing in more business. We are building a dependable field team that can be trusted to execute assigned work safely, correctly, professionally, and with limited day-to-day supervision. Although many initial assignments will involve mowing, grounds maintenance, property cleanup, and related outdoor work, Valiant is a grounds and facility services company. Employees should be willing to assist with other related field-service assignments as business needs arise, such as pressure washing, storm cleanup, debris removal, exterior property cleanup, and similar services when properly trained and equipped. Hours will vary depending on available work, weather, and client assignments and are not guaranteed. When scheduled for a field assignment and reporting as instructed ready to work, employees will receive a minimum of four paid hours for that scheduled work period unless notified of cancellation before reporting. We are looking for someone who can arrive at a property, understand what needs to be done, develop a practical plan, organize the crew, work alongside them, and take responsibility for the quality of the finished job. What You Will Do Review assigned properties, work orders, and job instructions before work begins. Walk each property or jobsite, identify obstacles, hazards, problem areas, and special conditions, and determine the safest and most efficient way to complete the work. Develop a practical work plan and assign responsibilities to crew members. Direct the crew throughout the assignment and keep employees organized, productive, and focused. Work alongside the crew performing mowing, weed eating/string trimming, edging, blowing, vegetation clearing, and general property cleanup. Ensure grass and vegetation are properly addressed around fences, trees, structures, sidewalks, curbs, and other obstacles. Monitor work quality throughout the assignment rather than waiting until the end to identify problems. Inspect completed properties or jobsites before departure and ensure work meets company and client expectations. Direct or complete any necessary corrections before the crew leaves the property. Ensure the crew takes appropriate precautions to protect fences, trees, landscaping, pavement, structures, vehicles, and other property from damage. Take or oversee required before-and-after photographs and other job documentation. Report property damage, safety concerns, unusual site conditions, equipment problems, delays, or work that appears to be outside the assigned scope. Communicate job progress, completion status, delays, weather issues, equipment problems, and other important information to management. Debris and Property Cleanup The Crew Lead will also be responsible for overseeing debris and cleanup activities associated with assigned work.

Responsibilities may include:

Identify and estimate trash, junk, vegetation, and other debris found at assigned properties. Determine whether debris appears to fall within the work already authorized for the assignment. Ensure ordinary approved debris is properly collected, contained, loaded, and secured. Contact management before removing debris that appears to exceed the amount or type already authorized. Photograph, measure, or otherwise document debris quantities when required. Coordinate or complete disposal runs when assigned. Ensure dump tickets, receipts, and other required disposal documentation are retained and provided to management. Ensure debris and equipment are properly secured during transportation. Immediately stop work and notify management if the crew encounters needles or sharps, unknown chemicals, suspicious containers, hazardous-looking materials, or anything that may require special handling. Other Grounds & Facility Services Valiant Grounds & Facility Services performs more than mowing. The Crew Lead may be assigned to other related field-service work based on client needs, company workload, and the employee's training and qualifications.

Assignments may include:

Pressure washing and exterior surface cleaning. Storm-related property cleanup. Brush, limb, and vegetation cleanup. Light non-hazardous debris removal. Vacant-property cleanup. Exterior property and facility cleanup. Commercial or municipal grounds maintenance. General property-maintenance assignments. Other related grounds and facility-support services within the employee's training and assigned responsibilities. Employees will not be expected to perform specialized, hazardous, licensed, or unfamiliar work without appropriate authorization, training, equipment, and supervision. We are looking for someone who is comfortable learning new services and understands that the work may vary from one assignment to another. Equipment and Transportation Responsibilities Load, unload, organize, and inspect tools and equipment needed for assigned work. Perform or oversee basic pre-use checks of mowers, trailers, tires, lights, tie-downs, and other equipment, and ensure safety or equipment issues are reported before use. Ensure tools, equipment, and debris are properly secured for transportation. Make sure equipment is used appropriately and only by employees who have been trained or authorized to operate it. Report damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment promptly. Travel between properties in Rosenberg and nearby communities as assignments require. Drive an approved company, rental, or employee-owned vehicle when authorized. Tow approved equipment or utility trailers when assigned and properly qualified. Company Identification and Jobsite Requirements Employees working on Valiant assignments are expected to: Wear a VGFS safety/identification vest or other company-issued identifying gear when required. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the assigned field work and jobsite conditions. Use required personal protective equipment for the assignment. Keep company-issued identifying gear in usable condition. Follow any client or jobsite-specific identification and safety requirements. Required company-identifying gear and applicable job-specific safety equipment will be provided or specified by Valiant. What We Need From You Valid driver's license required. Employees assigned to drive company, rental, or approved personal vehicles may be asked to authorize verification of their driving record as required for the assignment, insurance coverage, or rental-provider requirements. Driving history will be considered in relation to the duties of the position and does not automatically disqualify an applicant. Previous hands-on experience in landscaping, lawn maintenance, grounds maintenance, property maintenance, construction, facility services, or similar field work. Experience working on or around a field crew. Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience is preferred, but not required if you have strong field experience and can demonstrate the ability to guide other workers. Experience operating common lawn and grounds-maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, string trimmers/weed eaters, edgers, and blowers. Ability to look at a property or jobsite, determine what needs to be done, and organize the work without constant supervision. Ability to give clear instructions, delegate work, monitor progress, and hold crew members accountable for completing assigned tasks. Willingness to work alongside the crew rather than only directing from the sidelines. Willingness to learn and assist with additional Valiant services when properly trained, such as pressure washing, storm cleanup, or property cleanup. Good judgment around equipment, vehicles, property, safety, and jobsite conditions. Dependable and punctual. Comfortable using a smartphone to take photographs, communicate with management, and complete basic job documentation. Willing to work outdoors in heat, sun, humidity, and other normal Houston-area weather conditions. Able to perform the essential physical duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Willing to travel to nearby cities and towns when assignments require it. Previous trailer-towing experience is preferred. Applicants with prior criminal records are encouraged to apply. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant. Truck Preference Access to a properly insured, tow-capable pickup truck is strongly preferred because some assignments may require towing company or rental equipment. Owning a truck is not required for every otherwise-qualified applicant. If Valiant approves the use of an employee-owned vehicle for company business, approved business use will be reimbursed separately under company policy. What Success Looks Like A successful Crew Lead should be able to arrive at a property or jobsite and think through: What needs to be done? What equipment do we need? Who should handle each part of the assignment? Are there safety concerns, obstacles, property risks, or unusual conditions? Is there debris or additional work that needs to be brought to management's attention? How do we organize the crew so the job is completed correctly and efficiently? Is the work actually finished and ready for the client before we leave? The Crew Lead is not expected to know everything on day one. We do expect someone who is willing to learn, take responsibility, communicate, make sound field decisions, work alongside the crew, and care about the finished product. The work may also change from one assignment to another. One assignment may involve mowing and trimming. Another may involve pressure washing. Another may involve storm cleanup, debris removal, vegetation clearing, or general property cleanup. The ideal employee is flexible enough to work across different types of field assignments when properly trained and equipped.
