Job Duties:

Supervises and participates in general maintenance, construction, water, and wastewater operations.



Schedules and assigns work to maintenance staff and inmate workers.



Inspects completed work for quality, safety, and compliance with applicable regulations.



Coordinates assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of staff, materials, and equipment.



Estimates the labor hours, materials, supplies, and resources needed for projects.



Submits requisitions and maintains records and reports of repairs.



Trains and supervises inmate maintenance and construction workers.



Maintains the security and accountability of assigned inmates.



Performs other duties as assigned.



You'd be a GOOD fit if:


You have a high school diploma or GED.You have at least two years of paid experience in certified water or wastewater operations; orYou have an associate degree in engineering or a related environmental technology field; orYou completed a related environmental program through an accredited trade, technical, or U.S. military training school.



You understand the basic components of water and wastewater treatment facilities.



You understand maintenance procedures, policies, and techniques.



You can organize assignments, estimate project needs, and maintain accurate records.



You can maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure.



You are willing and able to obtain and maintain all required TCEQ licenses.



You'd be a GREAT fit if:


You already hold TCEQ water and wastewater licenses.



You have experience supervising employees or inmate workers.



You have hands-on experience operating and maintaining water or wastewater treatment systems.



You understand TDCJ policies, procedures, security requirements, and organizational structure.



You can troubleshoot system problems and coordinate preventive and emergency repairs.



You communicate clearly, make sound decisions, and work independently.



You are safety-focused, organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple projects.
