Looking to hire an energetic, mechanically inclined individual that is capable of self direction with excellent work ethic. $25 to $28 an hour - dependent upon experience 40+ hours per week - somewhat flexible! GREAT benefits! Key Responsibilities 1. Daily Operations & Maintenance (Hands-On) Work independently in daily maintenance tasks, including patching potholes, grading gravel roads, clearing brush, and repairing traffic signs. Operate heavy machinery (dump trucks, graders, loaders, backhoes) as needed. Direct and participate in winter emergency operations, including snowplowing, salting, and sanding township roads. 2. Planning & Administration Work with Town Treasurer and Town Clerk to help develop annual road department budget for approval by the Township Board. Work closely with the Town Chairman and Town Supervisors to establish short- and long-term road maintenance plans. Maintain inventory of department equipment, tools, and materials (salt, gravel, asphalt); manage purchasing within budget guidelines. Maintain records of road work completed, vehicle maintenance logs, and employee hours. 3. Safety & Compliance Ensure all work is performed in compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA/local equivalent). Coordinate regular maintenance and safety inspections of all township vehicles and heavy equipment. Set up proper work-zone traffic control to keep the crew and the public safe. 4. Community & Public Relations Respond promptly and professionally to resident inquiries, complaints, and requests regarding road conditions or drainage issues. Coordinate with county, state, and neighboring municipal road agencies on shared infrastructure projects.
