Job Description

Meter Technician Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Meter Technician to support field and shop operations involving the testing, installation, maintenance, and reading of water meters. This is a hands-on position requiring direct testing and maintenance experience. Responsibilities Perform field testing of 3-inch and larger meters, including recording test and retest results. Obtain vault meter readings while following confined-space procedures. Assist with installation of meters and MTUs and activation of AMR equipment. Perform meter bench testing and enter results into client systems. Participate in meter change-outs, installations, and field surveys. Maintain accurate inventory of meters, parts, tools, supplies, and vehicle equipment. Operate company vehicles and maintain assigned equipment. Qualifications Candidates must meet these minimum requirements to be considered: High School Diploma or GED. Minimum two (2) years of experience operating and maintaining meter test benches, maintaining/issuing inventory, and testing meters in accordance with AWWA standards. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Experience with basic data entry and handheld computers/electronic field devices. Knowledge of meter parts, types, and sizes. Ability to assist with meter testing and installation. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and work in tight, unlit, unfinished, and confined spaces. Basic mathematical and map-reading skills. Work Environment This is an active field position requiring indoor and outdoor work in varying temperatures and conditions. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, oils, and other field conditions should be expected. On-call availability may be required.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
