METER READER TEST MAY BE GIVEN
•SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, reads County water meters and records volume used by residential, commercial and industrial consumers by performing the following duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. 80% Walks or drives truck over established route and takes readings of meter dials. Performs meter installation, repair and replacements of water meters, water lines and distribution center. Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections. Indicates irregularities on forms for necessary action by servicing department. Inspects hydrants and water lines. Performs installation of water meter remotes and meter interfacing units along with any and all wiring required. 15% Verifies readings to locate abnormal consumption and records reasons for fluctuations. Turns service off for nonpayment of charges in vacant premises, or on for new occupants. Returns meter readings or information to business office for billing purposes. May answer customer calls while in office. 5% Washes and waxes county water vehicles and tracks vehicle service records. Maintains vehicle equipment boxes with tools and materials for service work. May make bank runs for the department and other courier service.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on- one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graph.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
Must possess valid Ohio Drivers Licenses. OTHER SKILLS andABILITIES
Must possess a good knowledge of water service and distribution system and knowledge of street locations in districts and knowledge of office procedures.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
