CITY OF KILLEEN POSITION DESCRIPTION
Meter Reader Performs routine clerical and semi-skilled utility work in the reading and operation of utility meters. The employee will have the responsibility of: Travelling to assigned routes and takes readings of meter dials Inspecting meters and connections for defects, damage and unauthorized connection or use Installing, removing, and replacing meter boxes and lids Tagging doors and disconnecting water service to delinquent non-pay accounts Rechecks on readings as needed to determine abnormal consumption patterns and analyze possible causes for fluctuation or consumption Assisting in the maintenance and repair of meters Responding to work orders for utility disconnections, reconnections, and new orders The work environment will require the employee to: Stand, walk 3 - 5 miles each day Be exposed to extreme conditions, wet and/or humid conditions Be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock As an employee with the city of Killeen some benefits are: Health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX Dental and Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts) Paid Vacation and Sick Leave 13 paid holidays

High school diploma or equivalent; and One (1) year of meter reading experience, preferred
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver's license within ninety (90) days of hire Must have a valid driver's license by date-of-hire Employee must be bondable
