Job Description

West Fraser is seeking a Millwright Level 1 to support safe, reliable operations at our modern lumber manufacturing facility. In this role, you'll inspect, repair, and maintain sawmill and plant equipment including conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics to maximize uptime and quality output. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical issues, executing preventive maintenance, assisting with equipment installations and alignments, and completing work safely under lockout-tagout procedures. You'll work in a collaborative, safety-first team, with strong training, advancement opportunities, and the chance to build a long-term career in sustainable wood products manufacturing. Responsibilities Inspect, repair, and maintain sawmill and plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and related systems Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery and upgrades Interpret blueprints, drawings, and manuals to execute repairs and modifications Follow all safety policies including lockout-tagout and safe lifting/rigging practices Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize and complete work orders Document maintenance activities and report equipment condition and improvement opportunities Required Skills Mechanical troubleshooting Industrial equipment repair Hydraulic systems maintenance Pneumatic systems maintenance Welding and fabrication Blueprint and schematic reading Preventive maintenance (PM) Rigging and lifting Use of hand and power tools Industrial safety and lockout-tagout
