- Job Description
- The Sandblasting Operator prepares and cleans metal, concrete, and other surfaces using sandblasting equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role selects appropriate abrasives and blasting techniques, follows detailed specifications, and works closely with production teams to ensure high-quality surface preparation that meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Responsibilities
- + Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal, concrete, and other surfaces according to job specifications.
+ Select appropriate abrasives and blasting techniques based on the material type and required finish.
+ Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to verify proper preparation and quality.
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on sandblasting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
+ Follow all safety protocols and consistently use required personal protective equipment, including respirators and protective clothing.
+ Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to complete tasks accurately and on time.
+ Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards, and dispose of waste materials in accordance with procedures.
+ Collaborate with painters, welders, and other production staff to coordinate workflow and meet project timelines.
+ Use industrial tools such as spray guns, grinders, and racking systems as needed to support surface preparation and finishing.
+ Work in and around paint booths and sandblast booths while adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Essential Skills
- + 24 years of experience in industrial sandblasting or surface preparation.
+ Proficiency in operating sandblasting equipment in an industrial setting.
+ Hands-on experience with industrial painting and spray gun operation.
+ Ability to perform sanding, racking, and grinding as part of surface preparation.
+ Experience working in and around paint booths and sandblast booths.
+ Familiarity with different blasting media such as steel grit, glass bead, and aluminum oxide.
+ Knowledge of
SSPC/NACE
surface preparation standards.
+ Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
+ Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
+ Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
+ Consistent adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators and protective clothing.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Experience collaborating with cross-functional production teams such as painters and welders.
+ Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient work area.
+ Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs.
+ Comfort working in a high-production industrial environment with tight deadlines.
+ Reliability in working second-shift hours Monday through Friday.

- Work Environment
- This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment that includes work in and around paint booths and sandblast booths.
The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 4:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., supporting second-shift operations. Work involves handling heavy materials, operating industrial equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes, and performing tasks in confined spaces or elevated areas while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators and protective clothing. - This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $19.
00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
