Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician/Millwright for a long-term opportunity with a manufacturer of heavy industrial equipment in NW Portland, OR. The person in this position will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of large industrial equipment and components. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and experience using precision measuring instruments to verify tolerances, dimensions, and wear specifications throughout the rebuild process.
Pay:
$30-$40/hour
Mechanical Assembly Technician Responsibilities:
Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble heavy industrial equipment and mechanical components. Perform detailed inspections of parts and assemblies to determine wear, damage, and repair requirements. Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. Interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and repair specifications. Verify component alignment, fit, and mechanical functionality during assembly and rebuild processes. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions. Maintain accurate documentation related to inspections, measurements, repairs, and completed work. Coordinate with machinists, welders, and other shop personnel to support equipment rebuilds and production schedules. Operate shop equipment and tools safely and effectively. Ensure work is completed according to quality standards, specifications, and safety procedures. Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Mechanical Assembly Technician Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred. 5-10 years of millwright, mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or equipment rebuild experience preferred. Strong experience with disassembly and reassembly of heavy industrial equipment required. Proficiency using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and related instruments required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical specifications. Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, fits, alignments, and inspection procedures. Experience working in heavy industrial, manufacturing, machining, or equipment repair environments preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment. Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship. Ability to lift, move, and work with heavy components and equipment as needed.
Benefits:
$30-$40/hour based on experience. Medical 401(k) with company matching.
