Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Extruder Set-Up Mechanic to join our manufacturing team on the third shift. This pivotal role involves preparing, calibrating, and maintaining extrusion equipment to ensure optimal production quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, and electrical diagnostics, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and equipment repair. Responsibilities The Extruder Set Up Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Wilkes-Barre, PA, responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining extrusion equipment used in the production of plastic components. Day-to-day responsibilities include configuring extrusion lines according to production specifications, performing mechanical adjustments to achieve quality and throughput targets, and monitoring equipment performance during runs. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and process issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and coordinating with production and quality teams to ensure efficient operations and adherence to safety standards. The Extruder Set Up Mechanic also documents setup parameters, maintenance activities, and equipment changes, and may assist with training operators on proper machine use and basic troubleshooting. Qualifications Strong Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair skills for industrial machinery and production equipment. Experience with Preventive Maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Hands-on background working with Heavy Equipment or complex manufacturing machinery. Effective Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues. Experience setting up and maintaining extrusion or similar plastic processing equipment is highly preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and production specifications. Knowledge of safe work practices in a manufacturing environment, including lockout/tagout and OSHA guidelines. Basic computer skills for logging maintenance activities and accessing equipment documentation. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work around moving machinery. Prior experience as a mechanic, maintenance technician, or machine setup specialist in manufacturing; vocational or technical training in industrial mechanics or related field is a plus.
