Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled, safety-focused Journeyman Millwrights to join our team. This position focuses heavily on industrial equipment installation and removal, pump and gearbox rebuilds, precision alignment, machinery relocation, and mechanical troubleshooting . Millwrights will install, dismantle, move, rebuild, align, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, union standards, customer requirements, and company expectations. Experienced Journeyman Millwrights are preferred and encouraged to apply; however, candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and a desire to develop their millwright skills will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, assemble, dismantle, remove, relocate, and set industrial machinery and production equipment. Perform equipment layout, leveling, shimming, anchoring, and final installation. Remove, disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reinstall industrial pumps and gearboxes . Inspect and replace bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, gears, bushings, sleeves, and other mechanical components. Perform precision shaft alignment on motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment. Use laser alignment systems, dial indicators, precision levels, micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, and other precision measurement tools. Identify and correct soft foot, angular misalignment, parallel/offset misalignment, shaft runout, and other equipment installation issues. Check equipment clearances, bearing fits, backlash, endplay, and other critical mechanical tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, schematics, and manufacturer specifications. Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and implement effective repairs. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery. Rig, hoist, jack, skate, and safely position machinery and equipment. Use chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, jacks, machinery skates, and other rigging and material-handling equipment. Perform welding, fabrication, and field modifications as required. Verify completed installations and repairs meet required specifications and tolerances. Work collaboratively with electricians, welders, pipefitters, operators, contractors, and other trades. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all applicable safety requirements. Adhere to union requirements, customer rules, and company policies. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Qualifications:
Journeyman-level Millwright experience preferred. Active membership in a recognized Millwright Union or ability to obtain membership. Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environments preferred. Experience with industrial equipment installation, removal, and machinery relocation strongly preferred. Experience rebuilding pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment strongly preferred. Experience performing laser and/or dial-indicator alignment strongly preferred. Strong understanding of bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, gears, lubrication, and mechanical power transmission. Ability to accurately use precision measurement tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation. Knowledge of industrial rigging and machinery-moving practices. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a crew. Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as required by project needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds , with appropriate assistance or mechanical means used for heavier loads. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods. Ability to safely climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and industrial structures. Ability to work at heights and in confined or restricted spaces when properly trained and authorized. Ability to safely wear all required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment:
Our Millwrights work in a variety of industrial environments, including manufacturing facilities, processing plants, production facilities, construction sites, shutdowns, and equipment installation projects . Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and can involve exposure to noise, dust, temperature changes, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and other conditions common to industrial construction and maintenance. Projects may require travel, overtime, weekends, shutdown schedules, and varying shifts based on customer and project requirements.
