Job Description
CoolSys is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Service Technician to support our HVAC Wholesale operations within the Technical & Maintenance department. In this field-based role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC-R systems for retail, commercial, and industrial customers. You'll perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency service while ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. Working in a hands-on, collaborative culture, you'll interface directly with customers, use advanced diagnostic tools, and follow detailed work orders and technical documentation. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems for retail, commercial, and industrial customers Perform preventive maintenance, start-ups, and seasonal checks to maximize system reliability and efficiency Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools Safely handle, recover, and charge refrigerants in compliance with EPA and company standards Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation Document work performed, parts used, and recommendations in service software and reports Collaborate with dispatch, sales, and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues Follow all Cool Sys safety policies and industry best practices, maintaining a clean and safe work area Provide professional, customer-focused communication while on-site and on-call Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current with HVAC-R and energy-efficient technologies Required Skills Commercial refrigeration systems troubleshooting HVAC-R diagnostics and repair Brazing and refrigeration piping Reading schematics and wiring diagrams Use of gauges, meters, and refrigeration tools Preventive and predictive maintenance Refrigerant recovery and charging Controls and EMS familiarity Work order and documentation software Safety and lockout/tagout procedures
