$23.00 per hour Position Summary The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, and repairing kitchen hood fire suppression systems, portable fire extinguishers, and related suppression equipment. This position ensures systems are properly maintained and compliant with applicable NFPA standards, Florida regulations, and company quality and safety standards while providing professional, customer-focused service. Key Responsibilities Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of portable fire extinguishers and kitchen hood fire suppression systems. Service systems in accordance with applicableNFPA 10, NFPA 17, NFPA 17A, NFPA
96, and other relevant codes and standards. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair suppression systems and associated detection and release devices. Conduct hydrostatic testing and recharge cylinders when required. Complete accurate documentation of inspections, deficiencies, repairs, and corrective actions. Clearly communicate inspection findings and recommendations to customers. Provide cost-effective solutions for identified repairs and deficiencies. Respond to scheduled emergency service calls, including after-hours calls when required. Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, applicable NFPA standards, Florida requirements, and company safety policies. Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicle in safe and proper working condition. Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, and service teams to ensure work is completed efficiently and on schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen hood fire suppression system service, installation, inspection, or maintenance. Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards applicable to fire suppression systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, system drawings, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities. Licenses & Certifications Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must possess or be able to obtain the applicable Florida-issued Portable Fire Extinguisher and Pre-Engineered Systems permits required for kitchen hood or industrial suppression systems. Must meet all applicable Florida State Fire Marshal permitting and licensing requirements for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining fire suppression systems. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move equipment and cylinders weighing up to 50 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and reach overhead. Comfortable working in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, and elevated areas. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to service small system components. Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, dust, and noise. Ability to properly wear required PPE, including respirators when necessary. Work Environment Work is performed at customer facilities, including industrial, commercial, and institutional locations. Position requires travel throughout the assigned service territory. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Some emergency and after-hours service work may be required.
