Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial/Industrial Chiller Technician to lead maintenance and repair operations for a diverse central plant across two campuses. This role requires true chiller expertise, not general HVAC service background. Equipment you'll work on: Trane
  • CVHE centrifugal chillers (250-450 tons), RTAC/RTWD air-cooled screw chillers, RTHD water-cooled screw chillers, CGAM air-cooled scroll units Daikin Applied/McQuay
  • WMC/WME magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers (350-430 tons), AGZ air-cooled scroll chillers, legacy WMC magnetic-bearing equipment York
  • YMC² magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers, YK conventional centrifugal chillers, YCWL water-cooled scroll units, YVAA air-cooled chillers Other
  • Carrier air-cooled equipment, 600-ton Drake packaged/process chiller Cooling towers: EVAPCO, Marley/SPX, BAC Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls issues on chiller and cooling tower systems Monitor and log plant operating parameters; adjust systems for efficiency and reliability Handle refrigerant recovery, recycling, and charging in compliance with EPA regulations Lead or assist with major overhauls, part replacements, and vendor-coordinated repairs Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours plant issues as needed Maintain accurate service records and communicate plant status to facilities management Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior HVAC/mechanical staff Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience with commercial/industrial chillers Working knowledge of magnetic-bearing, centrifugal, screw, and scroll chiller technology Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, controls, and electrical systems Requirements EPA Universal Certification required Valid driver's license Ability to work at heights, in mechanical rooms, and in varying weather conditions Availability for on-call/emergency response #TradeSkills123
