Job Summary The Senior Refrigeration Lab Technician is the senior technical resource in the Sedalia refrigeration lab. The role plans and executes in-house and agency testing on new and existing refrigerated products, analyzes refrigeration system data, identifies design flaws, and coordinates corrective changes with engineers and vendors. Responsibilities include sizing and charge determination, test method development, root cause analysis of field and returned-goods failures, and completion of agency DAP data sheets. The Senior Technician also mentors Laboratory Technicians and serves as the lab's point of contact for cross-functional product launches and issue resolution. In your role as a Senior Refrigeration Lab Technician, you'll take part in the following activities: Safety & Lab Ownership Test Planning & Execution Refrigeration System Analysis & Design Support Problem Solving & Quality Agency, Codes & Regulatory Cross-Functional Support Full roles details are listed in the attached job description. Education and Experience HS diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical/professional certification preferred 5 years commercial refrigeration service, installation, or lab test experience (10 preferred) Required Knowledge and Skills Clear understanding of the vapor compression cycle - enthalpy and thermodynamics (superheat, subcooling, sensible and latent heat, product and food loads) and airflow (CFM, velocity FPM, static and velocity pressure). Understanding of metering devices - TXV, AXV, EXV, and cap tubes. Low-temp and mid-temp commercial refrigeration experience; understanding of commercial and residential refrigeration system operation. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems; intermediate knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems; working knowledge of pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems. Strong electrical wiring knowledge, including wiring diagrams, electrical troubleshooting, and controls. Basic knowledge and skills in brazing, soldering, insulation, measuring, and sheet metal. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of basic construction methods and build techniques for food service equipment, serving systems, and refrigerated equipment. Universal 608 (EPA) certification preferred, or the ability to attain it for the right applicant. Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
