DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides classroom and on-the-job instruction that supports inmate learning in the refrigeration mechanic trade. It maintains structure, safety, and clear expectations to ensure strong training results. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
Trade Instruction:
Teach standard methods and procedures for installing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Curriculum Delivery:
Conduct classroom lessons that follow an appropriate refrigeration mechanic curriculum
Crew Supervision:
Oversee inmate work crews and direct completion of refrigeration work orders during training
Record Keeping:
Maintain documentation of inmate attendance, training progress, assignments, and completed work
Tool Control:
Issue and inventory all materials and tools used during training and conduct searches to ensure proper accountability
Material Planning:
Determine needed materials and tools for work assignments and submit purchase requests when necessary Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description .
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday
- Friday.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
