Cabinet Service Technician - 1099

Independent Contractor Service Area:

Auburn, Alabama & South Georgia We are looking for a dependable and experienced Cabinet Service Technician to work as a 1099 Independent Contractor servicing the Auburn, Alabama and South Georgia areas. This is not a W-2 employee position. This is a 1099 subcontractor opportunity. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, transportation, tools, insurance, and other expenses associated with operating as an independent contractor. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout the Auburn, AL and South Georgia service areas to complete assigned service work. What You'll Do As a Cabinet Service Technician, you will visit homes after cabinet installation to complete service and punch-list items. Most work will be performed in new-construction homes, although you may occasionally have appointments in occupied homes.

Typical service work includes:

Cabinet touch-ups and minor repairs Door and drawer adjustments Hardware adjustments and installation Replacing damaged or missing cabinet parts Crown molding, trim, filler, and toe-kick repairs Minor cabinet modifications General cabinet service and punch-list work Compensation The compensation structure starts at: First hour: $45 Second hour: $35 Additional hours: $35 per hour The first two hours are structured to allow time to load necessary materials at the warehouse and travel to the first job site. Each service work order has a predetermined amount of paid time based on the work required. For example, if a touch-up and adjustment has a predetermined service time of 3 hours and you complete the work in 2 hours, you will still be paid for all 3 hours. We do not reduce your predetermined service time because you completed the work efficiently. If a service legitimately requires more time than originally allowed, the additional time can be documented on the work order with the approval from management for additional compensation. Travel time between service jobs is not added to the predetermined service time. 1099 Independent Contractor Requirements Because this is a 1099 independent contractor position, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining your own: Reliable transportation suitable for traveling throughout the service territory Tools necessary to perform cabinet service work Required insurance Required subcontractor/vendor documentation Taxes and other obligations associated with being self-employed You do not need to purchase insurance before the interview. We ask that you obtain a quote so you understand the cost involved before deciding whether you would like to move forward. All subcontractor requirements must be completed before we can issue a vendor number and establish a start date. Experience Experience with cabinet installation, cabinet service, finish carpentry, trim carpentry, woodworking, or similar work is preferred. We are looking for contractors who are dependable, professional, able to work independently, take pride in the quality of their work, and are comfortable performing service in both new-construction and occupied homes.
