El Cajon, CA Job Details $25 - $40 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description Position Summary The Used Car Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet our quality and safety standards. Using advanced diagnostic equipment and industry best practices, the technician identifies mechanical and electrical issues and performs the necessary repairs and maintenance to prepare vehicles for retail sale. As with all positions within dealerships, service technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards. Major Essential Duties Perform comprehensive inspections on used vehicles. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns using diagnostic tools and equipment. Complete repairs and preventive maintenance efficiently and accurately. Perform multipoint inspections and document findings. Supervising and training apprentice or entry-level technicians. Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA laws. Follow all safety and work instructions in handling equipment and materials. Maintain clean and safe work area at all times. Report defective equipment, equipment failures or unsafe conditions immediately to the Service Manager. Work overtime and weekends as required. Maintain a safe driving record. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate required. Two to five years of experience as an Automotive Technician required. Must hold at least one current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in one or more of the following specialty areas: Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drivetrain and Axles, Brakes, or Suspension and Steering. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Environment and Physical Activity The environment for this position can be exposed to noise, dust, paint fumes, and a variety of hazardous and nonhazardous material and includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 35 to 50 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
