Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Installs and repairs water, gas, air and drain piping.
- Installs and repairs water heaters, domestic hot water boilers, circulating pumps, back flow preventers, and thermostatic mixing valves
- Drain cleaning.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of cast iron, steel, brass, PVC and copper.
- Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
- Installs new and repairs existing plumbing fixtures and carriers.
- Installs new and repairs existing sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, and hot water storage tanks.
- Capable of cutting appropriately-sized openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Cuts and threads pipe.
- Welds holding fixtures to steel structural members.
- Maintains good customer relations by communicating with the customer, leaving work area clean and orderly, and resolving any customer concerns.
- Observes job site and reports and corrects any unsafe working conditions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess a valid state drivers license and pass an MVR check
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights in excess of 4 feet.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must possess the ability to communicate via telephone to customers and dispatch
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journeyman's license is preferred, but experienced apprentices are considered.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must possess the ability to adjust focus for close up work, with or without correction.
- Must be able to pass a physical ability test.
