This is a hands-on position for someone who already has basic carpentry and plumbing skills and is comfortable working with tools. You do not need to be a master carpenter or licensed plumber, but you should have enough experience to complete basic tasks correctly, follow instructions, and work safely. We are willing to teach and develop someone who has good foundational skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities You will assist with a variety of residential repair and improvement projects, including: Measure, mark, and cut lumber and other building materials accurately Assist with basic framing, carpentry, trim, and wood repairs Install and replace faucets and basic plumbing fixtures Diagnose and repair minor plumbing leaks Clear common sink, tub, and drain clogs Replace faucet and shower valve cartridges Replace supply lines, shutoff valves, P-traps, and similar plumbing components Assist with drywall repair, painting, demolition, installation, and general home repairs Load, unload, carry, and organize tools and building materials Maintain clean and safe work areas Protect customers' homes and property while performing work Follow instructions and complete assigned work carefully and correctly Required Skills Applicants must be able to: Accurately read a tape measure, including common fractional measurements Measure, mark, and cut lumber to specified dimensions Safely operate common hand and power tools Use a circular saw, miter saw, drill, and impact driver Perform basic carpentry and wood repair Perform basic residential plumbing repairs Follow verbal instructions and work from measurements Complete basic assigned tasks with limited supervision Recognize when a task is beyond their experience and ask for direction rather than guessing Basic Carpentry Skills Applicants should have experience with some or all of the following: Reading a tape measure accurately Measuring and marking materials Making accurate straight and angled cuts Using circular saws and miter saws Using drills, impact drivers, and other common tools Basic framing Wood repairs Installing or repairing trim Installing shelving and similar components Basic door installation or repair Basic Plumbing Skills Applicants should have experience with some or all of the following: Installing and replacing kitchen and bathroom faucets Diagnosing and repairing minor water leaks Clearing common drain clogs Replacing faucet and shower valve cartridges Replacing supply lines Replacing P-traps and other basic drain components Replacing basic shutoff valves Installing or replacing basic plumbing fixtures Additional Duties Residential home repair involves many different types of work. Depending on the project, you may also assist with: Drywall repair Interior and exterior painting Demolition Flooring Cabinet and shelving installation Doors and hardware Caulking and sealing General property maintenance Jobsite cleanup Experience in these areas is helpful but is not required. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, honest, teachable, and willing to work. You do not need to know everything. We would rather hire someone with solid basic skills who is willing to learn than someone who exaggerates their experience.

Physical Requirements This is a physically active position.
Applicants must be able to:
Stand, bend, kneel, squat, and work with their hands for extended periods Safely climb and work from ladders Work indoors and outdoors Lift and carry tools and construction materials Perform the normal physical activities associated with residential construction and home repair Skills Assessment Applicants selected for further consideration may be asked to complete a basic hands-on skills assessment. The assessment may include reading a tape measure, marking and cutting lumber to a specified measurement, demonstrating safe use of common tools, and discussing or demonstrating basic plumbing repairs. This is not strictly a general labor position. Applicants should have basic hands-on construction, maintenance, or home-repair experience and be able to demonstrate their skills. Additional training will be provided as the employee develops more advanced home-repair skills.
Pay:
$14.00 - $17.00 per hour
