The Hydraulic Repair Technician is responsible for evaluating customer equipment, diagnosing repair needs, locating replacement parts, and performing repairs on a wide variety of hydraulic and pneumatic components. Typical repairs include, but not limited to: hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and related fluid power equipment used in industrial, mobile, agricultural, and manufacturing applications. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test hydraulic components while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. Most work is performed in a shop environment, with limited field service work required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate customer equipment and hydraulic components to determine repair requirements. Clean, disassemble, inspect, diagnose, repair, and rebuild hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders,and related equipment. Inspect cylinder barrels, rods, pistons, glands, seals, bearings, and other components for wear or damage. Develop repair recommendations based on component condition and customer expectations. Research and locate replacement parts using manufacturer documentation, online resources, technical drawings, and vendor catalogs. Measure and inspect components using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and tape measures. Reassemble repaired components according to manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. Conduct pressure testing, functional testing, and troubleshooting to verify proper operation and repair integrity. Maintain accurate repair records, inspection reports, and work orders. Communicate repair findings and recommendations to management and customers as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Operate forklifts and other shop equipment safely when trained and authorized. Assist with additional shop duties as required. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools and mechanic's tools. Ability to read and accurately use measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. Basic computer skills with the ability to research parts, locate drawings, and access technical information online. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, repair instructions, and work orders. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. General understanding of welding, cutting, and torch operations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to safely lift and move hydraulic components and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance or lifting equipment. Reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications Experience repairing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, or other fluid power components. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Welding, fabrication, or machining experience. Technical or vocational training in fluid power, industrial maintenance, diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field. Experience operating forklifts and other shop equipment. Tools and Equipment Employee must provide steel toe boots, basic hand tools and a toolbox. Specialty tools, equipment, and PPE will be provided by the company. Company uniforms will be provided. Work Environment Primarily climate-controlled shop-based position with minimal field service work. Exposure to oils, grease, hydraulic fluids, machinery, and typical industrial shop conditions.
