Window & Door Service | Field Service | Construction | Home Improvement Help Homeowners Get the Most From Their Windows & Doors We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to join a growing service operation and provide window and door service throughout Northern Michigan. This is a field-based position where you'll travel to customer homes and job sites in a company-provided van to diagnose issues, complete repairs and adjustments, and provide an excellent customer experience. Direct window and door experience is highly desirable, but we're also interested in candidates with strong mechanical, carpentry, construction, remodeling, or field-service experience who are willing to learn. What You'll Be Doing As a Service Technician , you'll: Travel throughout Northern Michigan to perform service and maintenance on windows and doors Diagnose and troubleshoot window and door issues Complete repairs, adjustments, replacements, and other service work as needed Provide professional, courteous, and helpful customer service at every appointment Communicate effectively with customers and handle a variety of personalities and situations professionally Use an iPad to access product and job information, research technical resources, take photos, and complete electronic work orders Maintain accurate documentation of work performed Pick up and use products and materials stored at the company storage location Occasionally report to the showroom as needed Work alongside and learn from an experienced technician Attend training in Grand Rapids as required Maintain company-provided tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials Follow all company safety and service procedures What We're Looking For Successful candidates typically have: Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot problems Experience with carpentry, construction, remodeling, or field service Customer-service mindset with a polite, helpful, and professional demeanor Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule Comfortable working in customers' homes while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude Comfortable using electronic devices and learning new technology Ability to use an iPad and electronic work-order systems Reliable, organized, and adaptable approach to changing schedules and appointment times Ability and willingness to travel throughout Northern Michigan Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions year-round Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of customers Preferred Qualifications Window and door service or installation experience Window or siding installation experience Exterior new construction experience Remodeling experience Garage door service experience Commercial overhead door service experience Handyman or residential field-service experience Carpentry or construction trade experience Direct window and door experience is highly desirable but not required. The company is willing to train the right candidate with strong mechanical and carpentry skills. Technicians typically work 45-50 hours per week , and customer cancellations can occasionally result in a shorter day. When possible, the coordinator may attempt to fill an opening with another same-day appointment. You'll also work outdoors and encounter a variety of weather conditions throughout the year.
