Job Summary The piano technician manages the School of Music's fleet of keyboard instruments including routine tuning, maintenance, and repair. The technician assists with inventory as needed, including advising the Director of the School of Music on piano purchases and on when pianos should be retired from the fleet. They voice and regulate our performance pianos to the satisfaction of faculty and guest artists. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Piano tuning Piano maintenance Piano repair Piano voicing and regulation Inventory and assessment of piano fleet, including recommendations for the purchase of new instruments and retirement of old instruments Supervising the moving of keyboard instruments on and off campus Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to tune and perform complex repairs and regulation for pianos. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to tune and perform complex repairs and regulation for pianos. Working knowledge of tuning and repair for organ and harpsichord. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse group of people. General familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Calendar, and Teams. Preferred Qualifications Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with the Piano Technicians Guild.
