Executive Director / Shop Manager Position Summary Bikes for All People is seeking a motivated and dependable Service Technician to join our bike shop team. The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and refurbishing bicycles while helping create a welcoming and educational environment for customers, volunteers, and community members. This position is ideal for someone who has strong mechanical skills, enjoys working with bicycles, and wants to use those skills to make cycling more accessible to the community. Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, tune, and maintain bicycles of various types and conditions.
• Perform brake, drivetrain, wheel, tire, headset, bottom bracket, and bearing service.
• Complete bicycle safety inspections and identify necessary repairs.
• Assemble and refurbish donated bicycles for community use and resale.
• Complete service packages and repairs according to shop standards.
• Properly document repairs, parts used, and services performed.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe service area.
• Assist customers with basic bicycle maintenance and repair questions.
• Support volunteers and participants by teaching basic bicycle mechanics and safe repair practices.
• Assist with the Wheels of Opportunity workforce-development program by helping participants build hands-on mechanical skills.
• Help evaluate donated bicycles and determine whether they should be repaired, refurbished, used for parts, or recycled.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and properly use shop tools and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support the overall mission of Bikes for All People. Qualifications
• Previous bicycle mechanic or bicycle service experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of bicycle components, systems, and maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and identify appropriate repairs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to communicate mechanical concepts in a clear and respectful manner.
• Ability to safely lift and move bicycles and shop equipment. Preferred Skills
• Experience with wheel truing and wheel building.
• Hydraulic and mechanical brake service experience.
• Drivetrain installation and adjustment.
• Hub, headset, and bottom-bracket service.
• Experience working with e-bikes is a plus.
• Experience teaching or mentoring others is a plus.
• Experience working in a nonprofit, community bike shop, or workforce-development environment is a plus.

This position helps make bicycling accessible by keeping affordable bicycles on the road, supporting community members with repairs, and helping volunteers and program participants develop valuable mechanical and workforce skills. The successful candidate will represent Bikes for All People with professionalism, patience, respect, and a commitment to creating an inclusive community around bicycles. Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in various positions while servicing bicycles.
• Ability to lift and move bicycles and equipment.
• Ability to safely operate common bicycle-shop tools.

Compensation Pay:

$15-$20 per hour, based on experience and mechanical skill level.

Schedule:
